Private Italian airline Aeroitalia is making waves in the aviation industry with the recent addition of an Embraer E-190 regional jet to its expanding fleet. The airline, which began operations at the end of 2022, has been strategically growing its presence on both domestic and international routes.
The newly unveiled Embraer E-190 jet, marked with Aeroitalia's distinctive external color scheme, is the latest addition to the airline's fleet. Leased from Greek-based specialist carrier Marathon Airways, this aircraft is almost 17 years old and holds registration number SX-PTM. Previously in service with Baboo Airlines and now under Azzora's ownership, the jet is now under Aeroitalia's management for exclusive use on the Rome-Fiumicino to Milan-Malpensa route.
With a seating capacity of 100 passengers in a single-class layout, the Embraer E-190 commenced its commercial service for Aeroitalia on March 30, 2025, flying from Rome to Milan in just under an hour. This new aircraft complements Aeroitalia's existing fleet, which includes nine Boeing 737-800s, two ATR72-600s, an Airbus A319 from Fly Air 41 Airways, a Boeing 737-400 from 4 Airways, and the previously acquired Embraer E175 from Marathon Airlines.
Aeroitalia now operates flights on 21 routes to 17 destinations across four countries. The airline caters to a variety of destinations within Italy as well as regional locations in central and eastern Europe. With plans to utilize the Embraer jets on specific Italian routes that don't require larger aircraft, Aeroitalia continues to evolve its network and provide efficient services to its passengers.
As the airline's growth trajectory continues, serving both major cities and regional locations, the addition of the Embraer E-190 jet signals Aeroitalia's commitment to offering diverse flight options and expanding its reach across Europe. With a focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, Aeroitalia is charting a successful course in the competitive aviation market.
